There's a classic disco sound - a kind of boow sound - that I'm sure you'd recognise if you heard it. I'd quite like to be able to use it, but I don't really know what made it other than some kind of popular 70s synth. If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about and could offer something more concrete than "it sounds like a disco pigeon" (which doesn't work that well in Google) it would make me very happy.

EDIT: Like the noise at the beginning of Anita Ward's Ring My Bell, but shorter.

EDIT 2: Actually, like the noise that's all over the chorus to MacArthur Park (the Donna Summer version, obviously)

Sounds like some analog drum synth. Linn LM-1 or Roland CR-78?

Edit: Actually I'm pretty sure that's some Synare model. Synare-3.

edit2: I found a link for you: http://synthwire.blogspot.com/2005/11/synare-3-exposed.html
