I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and would like to know if it is possible to set the default cpu frequency. When I start up, the 4 cpu's are set to "on demand" - unfortunately this processor (AMD Phenom X4 9150e) doesn't scale well, so I would like to set it to the "performance" setting as default.

I read another post that suggested looking here:

Press Alt+F2 and enter gconf-editor. Browse in apps, gnome-power-management, cpufreq.
But when I looked there, I could not find a setting for cpufreq under gnome-power manager. Is the setting someplace else in 9.04?

Thanks,
Ron
