I'm setting up a raid 5 server for my home network, I have 3 1.5 tb and an EVGA 730i motherboard which supports raid 5 on the sata ports. Problem is I'm not having any luck getting this setup, everytime I try something with dmraid the partitions limit themselves to 2tb, everytime I try something with mdadm when I reboot the raid is gone. I even tried the alternative cd, and created the array in the partition part, which did not create the array when I booted. What I'm looking for is some direction, do I need to create a LVM with the alternative cd then do dmraid? Do I need to get mdadm going? and if so does someone know a guaranteed to work walk through? Thoughts, examples, and solutions are greatly appreciated, thanks.
