Hi everyone-

I have a starling netbook and this morning while I was reading a web page, the computer suddenly shut down. I thought that maybe I had somehow hit a key or something (I've had it for about two weeks now and I'm still getting used to it) so I hit the power button to restart it. It began to restart as usual, and then after showing the Ubuntu logo with the bar underneath, shut off again. Or at least it appeared to shut off- the light on the power button is still on, as is the wireless light. It's also clear that the fan is working and the computer is humming as it normally would if I were using it. I tried adjusting the brightness of the screen, thinking that somehow I had turned it down all the way, but that didn't seem to be the problem. During this whole time it was plugged in- I have since unplugged it because I'm wondering if I might be able to restart it once the battery runs all the way down and it has to shut off all the way (it works with my iPod and the Macs I've had all my life, but I'm not sure about this one).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much!

I answered your email on this one this morning. I think this was posted *before* I sent the email response.

So, let's just continue working via the forums only for now. Let me know if my suggestion worked.
