View Full Version : MSI Wind U100+ Mic not working UNR 9.04. Please help.

Hi Guys,

I have a MSI Wind U100+ netbook.

I'm running UNR 9.04 on it, and I love it - everything is working nicely out of the box.
The cpu scaling seems to be a bit funny - only seems to have a maximum setting of 1.33ghz instead of 1.67...but that's another conversation. I'll bring that up elsewhere.

The reason for my post is that I can't seem to get the mic working on the netbook to use Skype - I've read some posts about it here and elsewhere and it seems that some people have been able to get it running by manipulating the front mic settings in ALSA mixer, but I haven't had any luck at all.

Does anyone have any tips that might help me get the internal mic running on my netbook?

Many thanks,

For what it's worth, I've installed Karmic UNR, and the mic works out of the box. The gain is low, and if you turn up the volume a bit it does get a bit hissy.

But...it does work!

I've had the exact same issue and I've been searching for a solution all day. The problem for me was skype version 2.1. I basically completely uninstalled it, then I went ahead and downloaded skype 2.0 and installed that. Then in the skype 2.0 settings, you should now be able to configure the microphone settings.

I hope this helps.

I have the same problem. Cannot get the microphone working on my MSI Wind U100, I have tried:'

Skype Ubuntu 8.04
Skype Ubuntu 8.10
Skype Debian Lenny

None get the microphone working. Everything else with Skype seems to work.

I cannot locate an earlier 2.0 version anywhere to try.

Has anyone managed to get this sorted? It's driving me nuts. I just can't work out how to get any usable mic function.
