Sound Issues

When I open rythmbox and try to play music I get a clicking noise and the song does not actually play, same problem with slacker.com (online radio). I also try different sound preferences. Under "Sound Events" I hear a tone, but under music and moveis I hear a clicking sound. One or two of the options I hear a tone and clicking.

I just checked and the sound works with hulu.com

have you installed restricted extras?

Yes, I just reinstalled it no good. I also tried playing from a CD and that did not work.

None of them are muted. Now nothing is working and it sounds like there is a crazy humm coming from my speakers. I muted the PCM slide to get rid of the noise temporarily.
