View Full Version : Supported Firewire PCI card - or: I'm a fool

So, after months of research and multiple questions in this forum I ordered everything I'd need to set up my system. It has arrived and I was putting it together last night. I then found that I missed a vital component. I went to connect the firewire connector from the chassis and found that the motherboard I had so carefully chosen did not have on-board firewire. Once you've stopped laughing and gotten up off the floor, continue on.

So what I'm looking for now is a supported PCI firewire card. I've found that www.linux1394.org is not up anymore (or at least right now). I've also found that some people are claiming that any firewire card will work, but I'm sure that WrathofthePenguin's law will be in effect.

WrathofthePenguin's Law: If, in a field of 10,000 pieces of hardware, a single one will not work in Linux, it will find it's way into WrathofthePenguin's possession.

So, please feel free to post any known-to-work PCI firewire (I'd prefer 1394b (800))

Thank you!
