View Full Version : [ubuntu] Dual boot & wifi toggle hotkey on eeepc 1000HE

Hi,

I have recently bought an Asus eeepc 1000HE, as it was rated rather Ubuntu friendly, still I'm having some trouble with the wifi toggle hotkey. I have a dual boot set up with Ubuntu 9.10 and XP, and I followed the instructions there http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1106542 to set up a functional wifi and ACPI functions. Wifi was functional without compiling the compat-wireless drivers, but I did anyway.

However since I installed eepc-acpi-utilities, I have to first boot under XP to turn on the wifi adapter, then reboot under ubuntu, otherwise the card is not activated (even if the wifi led is on). Also when XP starts, the led is on but I have to press the hotkey to actually activate the card. The wifi adapter is a Ralink 802.11n card, not the Atheros that is shipped on some 1000HEs.

I wonder if some other users ran into this problem and found a way to fix it, as it's rather annoying.

Best,
