Running Jaunty on a Dell Optiplex SX270 which has a built in Intel 865G chipset, I noticed that when running xbmc (or glxgears, etc...) it showed that my openGL renderer was software rasterizer. Following a number of threads I found some precompiled drivers, namely: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/317457 and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/IntelPerformance#Problem:%20Falling%20back%20to%20 OpenGL%20software%20rendering

But XBMC is still hanging frequently, are there any better alternatives for drivers? My biggest problem is wading through all of the ancient posts about Ubuntu 7.10 problems with this card, etc... Anyone else have this graphics card working well in Ubunut 9.04?
