Has anyone seen this happen before? It started when I upgraded to 9.04 using all original (open source) drivers with Desktop Effects enabled.

The card is a 3-year old ATI with dual DVI output. The monitors are 2x22" Dells. Dual screen works fine without Desktop effects enabled, but can be extremely slow at times. For example, when I drag and drop a file the background of the originating window turns orange -- when this happens I can see the pixels going from left to right, top to bottom and everything else lags for a few seconds.

After months of updates and waiting patiently, this issue still persists. If you have information about it, please share.

You need to be a little more specific about your hardware if you want help with it.

The video card is an ATI Radeon X600. The computer itself is a Dell GX620, but I'm not sure that part is relevant.

Thanks :)
