Hi I've finally managed to get my Warcraft 3 working, but. I think its something wrong with the graphics because it lags like ****. I have a ATI Radeon X700PRO card and I dont think wine likes ATI of what i have read. But if anyone else have a solution to why it lags so much please tell me how to fix it.

There are apparently GOOD ati drivers available now, if you havn't installed those it would be a great place to start.

Apart from that, getting games to run smoothly using the Wine, WineCVS, Cedega API's is a black art, especially when it comes to 3d by the look of it!

All the best!

GOOD? Define good. Working isn't good. They work, but they're slow as molasses...ATI really dropped the ball again, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm still dual-booting because of it.

Hey! I'm just going on happy ati card user's reports here in the forum!

"They" say that ati have at last lifted their game, with the newly released drivers.

From experience I don't know, I use nVidia! :KS

The nVidia card & linux drivers, are fast as, or even faster, than windoze when I use UT2k4 which is a native install, but initially laggy after zoning, when I play Guild Wars, under Cedega.

There are a LOT of variables here!

This forum would probably not exist if there weren't so many!

I dont know if I have the latest ATI drivers. But I think they should be there because I installed it not so long ago. But to make it easy I'm going to dual-boot it with windows.

It seems to be the easiest way to make the transition, as we learn more about linux, linux itself is continually growing & improving. So, is the support.

The ati drivers are owned by ati, so they are not installed with Ubuntu. If you need to know more about that, then I would post in the Hardware / Video & Sound sub-forum.

I think I got a bit further in solving the problem, :) I've had this problem with some 3dscreensavers lagging and they runned smoothly after making a update of the ATI drivers. So I hope Warcraft 3 will work. (I almoast know the whole cd-key now without looking) ;)
