Hi

I have a HP 2730p. I use the following type of "mice": The touchpad, the pen on the screen and an external USB Logitech USB mouse. It also happens when I remove the USB mouse.

The problem started a couple of weeks ago. I didn't change any configration. I only did my regular updates.

After I log in my mouse suddenly stops to accept clicks. I can still move it. If I moved over a icon it won't be highlighted like when the click works. When I move over text the cursor sometimes starts to mark the text like when I click and hold the left button. Somtimes the right button still works.

I already searched the forum and found the following, but nothing works:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=975769
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1171041
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=976473

There are no messages in dmesg or Xorg.log.0.

The only solution I have right now is to save everyhting, open a consol and kill the X server. Afterwards it works for some time. Somtimes 10 seconds, somtimes hours.

Any ideas?

No idea if you still have this problem but there was a recall for the 2730p concerning the touchpad. I personally had a issue where the mouse would randomly start clicking every darn thing in sight.
