For some odd reason i feel compelled to give this C# a shot - but im under KDE and i dont feel like switching to Gnome, any suggestions ?

You don't need GNOME to dabble with C#. All you need is the Mono framework, and if you're interested in an IDE, Monodevelop.

Who told you to switch to GNOME??
As a rule, Gnome apps work under KDE, and vice-versa. So, you don't need to use GNOME to program GNOME apps.
And QT is adding support for mono..
