View Full Version : [ubuntu] Please help me with playing mp3 files on ubuntu

i just recently started to use ubuntu , the problem is that i cannot play mp3 file when i try to play them i recieve a message " the rquest plagin MPEG-1 layer 3(mp3) docoder " unavailabe i really dont know what to do :( and same when i try to play videos . please help!!!!

Install ubuntu-restricted-extras package. You'll fine it in Synaptic.

You definitely want to do this, also I would recommend using VLC media player for both audio and video. This media Player can play almost anything you through at it.

hey ya......go to applications >> accessories >>terminal , after that type this in command line

sudo apt-get install mplayer

go to system>administration>Synaptic package manager. type vlc in the search box.
right click on vlc and click mark for installation. click apply. wait. go to applications>sound & video>Vlc media player and open your files.

was that too much?? :)
