Need to know how to configure MythTV step by step.

Yea I have zero experiance in this whole TV thing and was wondering how to configure MythTV as when I run setup it says theres no backend or UPnP or whatever and takes me to some database setup screen I haven't a clue what to put or how to set it up...
I'm trying to do it for a friend.
