In the light of recent events, namely Mods censorship, Outright double standards, & arnieboys abuse of others when his toy is called to question, I no longer wish to be a member of this forum.
It is the job of admin & mods to keep overall harmony on their forum, not to harbour favoritism to staff. I will continue to recomend Ubuntu as the beginers distro. But will not be a party to the constant elitism, over inflated egos, and backbiting.
This post does not require a reply, Just the deletion of my account.
Thankyou & I hope you sort your house out, because as it stands its getting very silly.
remember................... UBUNTU !!!!!!
I do not intend any animosity towards anyone, I just feel there are double standards here.

Welcome to my world =P And I know many other people have noticed this, even as long ago as a couple months.
There are many things I dislike about this forum, but overall not including the people you are talking about I could name many many many nice people I have met here.

it seems more than a little ironic that censorship exists in a 'free, as in free speech' community. that said, i still enjoy it here quite a bit. lots of fun people.

hmm .. i've found nothing but quality advise and friendly people here. Arnie's toy seems to be quite a gem too. I run a message board and normally those who martyr themselves via public spectacle, tend to be the ones who weren't in the right to begin with. Bye bye.

I agree with you 100%.
Wondering if it isn't jealousy...

As much as I may agree with what the moderators are trying to do (keep this forum clean and on-topic), I too sometimes feel like they are being too strict and enforcing their opinions and double standards (as they did on me), but I'm not about to ask anyone to ban me because of that. If you have a problem with someone, send him a PM and watch as the entire mod team PMs you back, spend the next week replying to them, then give up on trying to talk some sense into them and post on. It worked for me.

It would have been much more productive to start a thread in the resolution center.
This is like ditching the distro without filing any bugs.

Theyre ditching the distro because they know the bugs wont be fixed.

If there is an issue with the forums use the resolution center as azz has mentioned.

UG, I was just posting that the person probably would use the resolution center if they thought it would help. But they probably dont think it would help. So they just want their account deleted.

Let me tell you first hand - there has been major progress. There is always room for more progress.
To not file a bug because you think they won't fix it is senseless. Why get up in the morning?
If the resolution center fails, try again. If that fails, use the CC. Don't just quit right off the bat!

Man, I have been away for a while. It appears I have missed something. Sorry you feel you have to leave. No community likes it's members to feel this way. Hopefully all will be resolved.

But they probably dont think it would help.
Can this thread address that issue?
I would assume that is because some of the staff prefer to settle things via private message. This can be very intimidating. Do you think the original poster did not use the resolution center because they were intimidated?
Would adding a phrase like "Post here if you feel you are being intimidated" to the resolution center description help overcome that particular obstacle?

I cant really argue the point for the thread poster more then I already have, as it is just speculation of what they are thinking.
But! Maybe they think it is just easier to leave and have their account deleted then wading through a couple postings in the resolution center, then using the CC. (Whats the CC? O.o Community chat?)

CC == Community Council.
Yes, it is a lot easier to quit than to do all that and take the abuse that comes with it.
'Been there, 'done that. I'm still here, though.

[[First, this is not to flame this. This is just a joke (some times this place is very very sensitive ;) )]]

So you are saying that, if I file a bug that says "winmodems are not supported out-of-the-box", a developer won't kick my dear butt? That's just crazy and very scary \\:D/
PS. Am I obsessed with winmodems? Yep... So go see 1st link in my signature
PS2. As someone who got "oops"ed once by dear arnieboy, I find it always easier to click the little red button when necessary and / or ignore the personal stuff.
