View Full Version : [ubuntu] Dual Boot on "semi-fake" RAID 1

Dear Forum,

This is quite a specific case. I've got an NVIDA bios with support for two SATA 1TB hard disks. Windows recognises the RAID mode (spanned or RAID1) but Ubuntu install (GParted) recognises the disks as separate hardware.

The whole thing was working fine with Ubuntu alone since I switched the RAID to spanned mode and installed as if two disks.

Now I have a client contract which requires a Windows based CAD and I want to install a dual boot. I'm thinking of switching the BIOS to RAID1 and installing Windows and Ubuntu dual boot (500MB each)

How should I proceed with regard to partitioning? Should I install Windows or Ubuntu first?

I can boot from CD or USB and have both Ubuntu and Windows Vista Business original CDs.

TIA
