Hi all

Another question, after installing Ubuntu 9.04, I seem unable to turn on appearance effects. After selecting an option, it looks for something then returns the error message that this is not possible. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks
Kyle

Most probably you haven't enabled video card drivers. Check System / Administration / Hardware drivers - if there's nothing you could enable/disable, let us know your video card model.

Hi

Couldn't see anything to enable in hardware drivers. Did search on my laptop on net and the official line is that it's an onboard S3 Graphics UniChromeTM Pro IGP if that helps?

Thanks

Here is some info on setting up the OpenChrome drivers.

Many thanks, do I just copy the script contents into terminal window?

Edit - ran the script, lots of activity, I think I said "Y" at the right parts. However, still no visual effects! It's not that important but would have been nice to have had. Thanks for help though.

I think you can just download the script, make it exacutable and then run it from the terminal
