I recently brought an old Laser/fax/printer home from my office. Thought I would hook it up to my Ubuntu desk top.

The computer sees it. And when I try to print something it says it has printed but the HP Laser Jet (3100) does not respond.

Suggestions? I am a newbie - so be very gentle with me (and by the way - the software CD that came with the printer - totally useless - as is HP).

Thanks for the quick reply. Got the driver from the HP website. The Computer sees it and recognizes it as an HP Laser Jet 3100 - but the printer is non responsive. By the way the fax receiving function is fine - but that is coming straight from the telephone line - no connection through the computer required. Have not tried the scan function (thinking that is Chapter three).
