I think the marketing firm Canonical hired took the pictures. I just think it is marketing "sitcom" buddies like hundred of ads.

Canonical always welcome feedback on their website, webmaster@canonical.com or webmaster@ubuntu.com.

Well the Ubuntu logo is three people embracing eaxchother, and the Ubuntu philosophy is "humanity towards others"

I think the original poster finds the adverts sexual in nature. People embracing, doing 'IT' with Ubuntu. Sounds almost like dirty slang.

Your mind has to be pretty deep in the gutter to get this impression. I don't find anything wrong with the adverts.

I don't think it's that. Just look at the pictures. They're disturbing in a way. Why is the black guy looking at that other dude like that for? Why are they exaggerating smiling and laughing... etc. etc.

It just seems too happy. Like they over did it.

I think it looks fine. perhaps if they capitalized the 'it', that might be better, but I really think its fine.

I think that gay and orgy-loving people are as good as any other people and if Canonical wants them on their ads, fine by me.

I think they are more real that the guys from "I'm PC, I'm Mac".

EDIT. Also, an orgy is something that I want/can to be related to.

The pics are typical of most advertising. The way the girl in the group photo looks borderline hysterical, and they all hug, one guy tries to kiss her, and they have "i do it with ubuntu" on their tops is maybe difficult for some people to relate back to a computer OS. But it's the standard method of advertising any product. The store sells some nice stuff and is worth a look, although i'm not sure i'd wear the t-shirt myself!

And this is why Ubuntu is not reade for the desktop;)

Hmm... actually, that's an interesting point you've raised. I really don't see anything disturbing over in the Ubuntu Store myself, but then again, sometimes I'm not as observant about things as other people.

I have an idea; how about we pose this question to a few random people off the street and see what they think?

Sir, it's UbuntuForums calling. They want to know if
we're disturbed at all by the Ubuntu Store.
What should I tell them?

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3735/03melekin.png

Me? Oh, well I think UbuntuForums is alright,
you know. I mean, on the whole, of course. Oh, I
don't really know. I'm usually stuck down in
engineering most of the time working on this
infernal caterpiller drive. Why not ask Chuck?

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/4598/04davenport.png

That's one of the craziest things I've ever heard!
People holding hands and hugging like that.
Reprehensible!

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/3992/05ryan.png

I actually buy stuff from the Ubuntu
Store all the time. Why do you ask?

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/4509/06painter.png

What, are you kidding me? They're
nuttier than a fruitcake on New Years Day.
I mean, they are Debian-based, you know.

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/8650/07moore.png

The Ubuntu Store? Oh yes, we're
investigating them for some of the t-shirts
they've been selling.

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/7378/08jones.png

Well, don't tell anyone this, but me and the
rest of the sonar crew are upgrading the SAPS
system and putting Xubuntu on it next month.

You know the thing which really worries me is
what MikeTheC and some of the other UbuntuForums
posters were up to last night behind the Ubuntu Store
with... well, I'm not sure what it was they were doing.

Definitely. Without a doubt. Those people look like they have had way to many mood altering substances.. But they do not freak me out so much that I do not feel like buying something. In fact I think that I want to share in the fun and have ubuntu products too.

Most gay and lesbian people call me a "homophobe", but...

If Canonical wants to put two guys into their marketing material, who look like they might be gay, then I don't have a problem with that. Canonical has used so many different-looking people on the covers of Ubuntu CDs and in other images, so why not a couple of possibly-gay guys?

I do find it a bit 'care bear', but I've still bought stuff from it so it can't be all bad.

Looks like standard-issue advertising cheese to me. You guys must have seen stuff like this in a hundred places all over the internet, surely?
