When I download Songbird from the web site I get a folder on my desktop filled with subfolders. How do I actually install and run the program? I must be skipping some step or doing it wrong. I am a true beginner, please have patience...Thanks!

Hello,

I have not tried songbird myself, but i assume that you need to extract the folder. The extracted folder should contain a file with the ending .deb, which you need to click on in order to install.

If i remember correctly i believe you just need to type into a terminal songbird to launch it, i prefer this way as otherwise if it doesnt start you wont have a clue why.

Once you have it working create a desktop shortcut and move it from your desktop

Songbird is also available as a .deb on http://www.getdeb.net/app/Songbird

Not made by the Songbird team but linked from their page. I had to remove the visual-4.0-plugins or whatever it's called, as per the description (nvidia user)

Disregard this post. I just erased what I said. I told how I got the Sunbird calendar, which is what I thought you were asking about.

Sorry, sorry, sorry

ok,

sorry for the wrong reply. So there will be no deb file inside your folder. I think the community documentation shown in the post above is useful.
