Well, im an avid Enemy Territory fan, play it a lot, have been in various clans and in my opinion gotten to be quite good [/bigheaded rant], but im just curious to know, what other alternative games are there for ubuntu, or linux rather, that'll work without having to get Wine or WineX working etc... anyone got any recommendations? Also are there any other free games like Enemy Territory is for linux? If not what pay for games will just work in Linux, sure i dont mind using special installers to get them working on linux / ubuntu but i dont want to have to go through the process of getting Wine or any windows like emulation working.

The list isn't the correct number of games for Linux it's just the number of games I've added more will come every week.

Could you add another like section to the games saying if they're required to be paid for or they're freeware?... i noticed that in the demo slot you have some reading freeware but i just thought id make the suggestion of adding another section to the games information saying if it is actually free or pay for :).

Semi-OT: What is your policy on mods for games for inclusion on your list? I frequenly play True Combat:Elite (http://www.truecombat.us/), a mod for RTCW:ET. Although it is technically not a stand-alone game (which would exclude it from the list, I presume), it is Linux native and free as in beer. And it is popular among forums members here. That's how I found this gem in the first place. :)
Back to topic: here's your alternative. I never read in the OP whether he knows this game or not, so here goes.
TC:E is basically a counterstrike clone, but with a few twists. The gameplay is very fast, faster than ET. You can see where you've been hit, but you do not see how many hit points you have. The redder some part of your body, the worse your health. Ammo clips do not give a count, but more a rough estimate of how many shots you've got left. My favourite feature is that you do NOT have a recticle. When you aim, you'll have to manually zoom in, which will considerably slow you down. You cannot run and hit something at the same time UT style, unless you are REALLY good (or REALLY lucky in my case:mrgreen: ).

AFAIK it is not in the repositories. You'll just have to download the install file from the site and follow the instructions there.
