View Full Version : [ubuntu] Center speaker only on 5.1 setup?

(please redirect me if any threads on the same topic exist or if I put this in the wrong forum, I did not find any)

I just got sound finally working in my install of Ubuntu 9.04.

Onboard sound, gigabyte mobo: GA-EP45-DS3L (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128345)
Codec: ALC888
Kernel module: snd-hda-intel
Driver version: 1.0.20-5.12 (Realtek driver from website)
Util/Lib version: 1.0.20
Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller

Problem is, only the center speaker currently works. Front left and right do not (although the volume wheel on the front right does). I do not currently have rear speakers set up because my cords are not long enough to put them anywhere useful.

Everything is unmuted and at max in volume control/alsamixer except front mic boost and microphone, which cause shrieking sounds when they are at full.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!
