I thought I'd mention this as I couldn't find any threads about it. The game installed fine on Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit and looks a bit like C&C. Crashed when exiting the game but who cares.
Not really my cup of tea, but I guess there are a lot of RTS fans out there who might find it amusing. Oh, and it's free as in beer.

Why? Your post is commerical titles, this is a free title :P

Thanks people.
Although I am not a fan of any of Grubby Games I added My Tribe 2 to the list.
ELD : Yeah my list is about commercial titles for the simple reason that they aren't updated every month like the free source ones.
While Hive Rise is not free source it *might* be called a commercial title because you can buy stuff from their site to help you with the game.
Anyways I've missed it , it's already been released ;)

What about a list of newly released games then?
All you need to do is add a new category and move new games into it from "expected to have a linux port" and games like this which you didnt know about until it was too late.
for me it might be better to know about new games that already have been published.

That's why I added "recently released", this way I would have to count them all from the start ;)

Tried it and didn't really like it. Still, it felt like a game of fairly high quality - it just wasn't my genre.

Gotta love Ryan Gordon, but that list is in no way possible a complete list of all the native linux games available (378 is just about 150 to 200 under the actual number). Weve got roughly speaking 500+ on the UGA (http://gwos.org), and I know for a fact that there are probably at least 200 more. The most complete list of games out there , even more than the UGA itself, is Bobz's site , happypenguin.org (http://happypenguin.org).

Well, they did write "We reserve the right to refuse to list games which suck" ;)
NOT that I think that the games they didn't include to the list suck....but they wrote it.

Depends entirely on your audience. To be fully inclusive, no game sucks. It just has a different audience. Circus linux is a great game, if your 5 years old and require that kind of entertainment. Same with TuxPaint, Charly, Memonix, Simon the Farmer, and GCompris.
MySudoku is a great game if your passing the time away or if your a girl (more girls play sudoku traditionally than guys do).
So to say a game sucks, or not list a game for the reason that you may think it does, certainly does not discount the reason that it should be ignored. I still play GnomeTris, it doesnt suck, and I very much enjoy playing it. And yes, its a viable game to be reported on, even if only in a minor state.
And really the idea is to show other non linux users that using a linux based operating system is something desireable to them. Even if all they play is Tetris, they want that kind of security in the belief that they can indeed, play Tetris.

While I agree with you here but the audience is mainly Linux users.
If I'll show a Windows user who just want to know more about Linux games a game like GnomeTris or Tetris then it will probably be a turnoff FOR THEM because they come to know games like Witcher, NWN2, NFS etc...

Seems I'm having issues with getting it started. I'll have to keep experimenting... I guess.
Does it have a solo-play as well? I couldn't figure that out on the website, but it is likely that I was just blind.

You must have an Internet connection to play.
If you use 64-bit you need the 32-bit libraries (check UGA - I'm sure C.K is working on a 64-bit guide ;) ).

It's me that make the guides, MaximB ;)
The guide for Hive Rise havn't entered the UGA yet, will do in a couple of days. But for those who can't wait, here's a quick one;
Download Hive Rise to your Desktop first.
Then open the terminal;
sudo apt-get update && ssudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
mkdir -p ~/.Games/hiverise
cd ~/Desktop
chmod +x installhiverise.run
./installhiverise.run
Installation Destination: /home/USERNAME/.Games/hiverise
Launching the game by: Applications tab ---> Games ---> Hive Rise
