There could be any number of reasons what I'm trying to do isn't working. I'm trying to prove once again that home brew, cheap ***** is is actually worth the effort....

I have an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop (ATI video). AMD processor. 1 Gb system Ram, 160 Gb HDD.

I' trying to get my SHARP Aquous 1080p TV recognized as a second display.. for watching justin.tv on a larger format screen.

I have cobbled together a VGA to composite video cable, and had an unknown screen detected once or twice, but nothing showed on the Sharp. Don't know if this is an Ubuntu issue ( probably not) or a hardware issue ( more likely). Have to start somewhere...may as well be here.

I've confirmed the external VGA port is recognized & works on a Dell monitor....
