Hi!

I just saw that there's a new version of VLC, and I'd love to install it. This page provides some instructions:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ubuntu.html

I have trouble getting that done though. I did some reading on PPAs (there are a few links there), and apparently, to successfully add a PPA, you need a line starting with "deb" and ending e.g. with "jaunty main", but on VLC's site, I only get what would be the middle part of that:

Also, if there is a key you need to use this PPA, then the VLC site surely doesn't provide it.

So from what you see on VLC's download instructions page, how would you go about getting it installed in Ubuntu (I'm using Jaunty 64)?

Thanks!
A beginner...

you can add software sources by clicking on... system > administration > software sources
i think vlc comes under the second tab 'third party software'

I think you have to register in order to Activating a PPAs
