Hi Everyone.
I have the latest X64 version of Ubuntu and I am having a strange problem getting my sound card to work properly.

I can get sound from MP3s and Videos from my system using Totem Movie Player, but if I play a game or try to watch a video online I get no sound at all. Also, I get no system sounds, such as startup tunes, or clicks for example. VLC has no sound either.

I have gone through every tutorial I can understand, but nothing corrects this problem.

I am using the Xonar D1 with digital optical output to a Yamaha receiver, if that helps.

ok, did them both. the output of the second part is

Names of available sound cards:
D1

which is what have.

A second thing to mention, is that last night before doing this, I was able to get sound from windows media videos online, but not flash videos.

Anyone else want to hazzard a guess at what's happening?
