I'm trying to figure out a way to install a ubuntu server install. The server does not have a CD or DVD drive, it does have USB.

I was thinking about setting it up in a VMWare, then copying the contents and basically dumping them onto the server PC through a USB thumb drive...

Does anyone know how to go about doing this?.

Any reason why ya can't /Installation/FromUSBStick (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick)

You may also want to see: Server and Network Installs section (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/#Server%20and%20network%20installations)

Hope that helps.

Ah, thank you.

What about copying the files from a VMWare player?. Can I do that?.

I wouldn't. I know most things autodetect now on bootup like xorg, but I can't guarantee no unexpected problems. I'd just recommend a simple USB install, saves ya the hassle of VMs just to copy over.
