Has anyone here ever played this, and what are your opinion(s) on it if so?
I saw it linked on http://happypenguin.org and am deciding to give it a try.

I used to played WC Privateer on Windows a few years back. Iy was on the whole a really excellent game. But it does kinda feel a little antiseptic and sterile.
Would i would suggest for a far better gameplay experience Oolite (its on the same page). Its a remake of the original (and still deffinitive) 3d space combat/trading game Elite.
But that is just my humble opinion

Vega Strike is also a good option, it's in the repo by the way. What I know Privateer remake are build off Vega Strike.

The privateer remake is awesome. Great graphics and gameplay. I used to play the old dos version, and this is a perfect remake. Get the installer here http://priv.solsector.net/

Gemini Gold kicks butt, yes...but I definitely prefer Wing Commander Universe, which can be found at http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6124
Yeah...I know it's a forum link, but due to general annoying-ness from some elite stick-up-butts in the Wing Commander community, the (only) developer is pretty depressed over it. If anyone wants to lend a hand, spiritplumber is the kitty to talk to on the Vega Strike forums. Testing is appreciated, though I gave it a good once over and two thumbs up, kupo! :)

Man, I loved to play Elite on my Commodore 64! My wife learned to hate "Blue Danube" that played when you had the docking computer on. :D
