Line-In to Line-Out???????

Hi,

I'm using a pretty old computer with a pretty old sound card and i just wanted to know if it was possible to use a line-in plug for speakers or change it to line-out? Right now I only have one jack for speakers and i want to connect two sets of speakers.

Jacks on sound card: Mic, Line-In, & Line-Out

Any advice is appreciated.

well, what kind of sound card do you have?

if you have something that looks like a headphone socket, it could be stereo.

Most cards that I see have 3.5mm stereo jacks. However, you should try to find out some specifics about your card. Imagine if the input has a preamp leading to an ADC. This won't work very well if you try to reverse the signal path. It's possible for cards to work this way, but not all of them do. It depends on hardware and drivers whether this is possible.

In a nutshell NO!

In is IN. Out is OUT.
But, if you want to go ahead and try, be my guest. But if those speakers are powered, you just MAY have to get another sound card.

IF you want to run two sets of speakers .. get a "Y" cord at Radio Shack. And hook it into the OUT!
