Dear forum,
I have a new Inspiron 1010 (cherry red). It comes with XP so I'm using Ubuntu via an .img file on a memory stick. I installed the image on the stick using win32diskimager. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 netbook remix. Everything seems to be going well so I'm thinking of going the whole hog and installing Ubuntu on my harddrive but I want to sort out this problem with my router first.
When Ubuntu starts up I have an icon with signal bars and a little red cross to indicate that wireless is not connected. Clicking on this icon produces a list of available wireless routers. My router - a BT Voyager 2110 - is not listed among them. I've been successfully using this router wirelessly with XP on the same machine for two weeks and continue to do so. When I plug into the router using Ubuntu and an ethernet cable everything works perfectly.
More info on the router can be sought from http://www.voyager.bt.com/wireless_devices/voyager_2110/product_info.htm
If you can suggest a way to fix this or a wireless workaround I would be very grateful.
Kind regards,
Phillip
