Hey. I am saving up to get a laptop to run Ubuntu on, probably a used one that has about 800 MHz and near 256-512 ram. I want to use it for mobile programming and school work, but I still want to run some games that I just can't be without.
Now, I read a topic about installing starcraft. Is it better to run Starcraft on cedega, what advantages does it have over wine? I used it a while ago in its 4.3-4.4 releases, but my subscription ended and i have yet to try the 5.0 releases with the graphical interface.
Also, in the topic I read (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=77483&highlight=starcraft) It said that you should give wine/cedega running SC main priority. Will this cause problems on a laptop of that power if I use KDE? Eye candy will probably be at a minimum, no neato transparancey effects like I use on my powerhouse desktop. Just assume I have about 2 panels with backgrounds and I run at about 1024 x 768, would Wine or Cedega be choked by those processes running, and will it drink the battery?
This is the only game that I am unsure about how it will run, because it is the only one that needs wine. The other games I plan to install are the quakes sans four, and unreal tournament.
