Hi.

Sorry, I'm one of those people who have a shiny new mini 10 with ubuntu (hardy 8.04, I think) despite not really having a clue.

My current main problem is being unable to remove all the programs I don't want from it - I don't really want to play solitaire etc etc etc. I'm sure there's a clever way to do it in a terminal, but trying applications> add/remove > ticks and unticks boxes> only gets me to a dialog box that says

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.24-22-lpia_2.6.24.45netbook9_lpia.deb: files list file for package `libxcb- shape0' is missing final newline

I'd be really grateful if someone could help me out by a) translating and b) helping me figure out a way to get the random games to go away,.

stp

I had this same problem with the Ubuntu that shipped with the Mini 10. Couldn't install new programs or even updates!

I ended up sticking the 9.04 Netbook remix on it

See a thread called 'Newbie problem with a new dell mini 10v'. Unless you're interested in the history (and variations on the solution) you can just skip to the last post. Dell is obviously continuing to ignore this problem - they don't seem to need customers to return for other products as customer support is non existent (probably different if you're a large business customer!).

I'm not sure the exact nature of your problem but I would strongly urge you to install a non Dell version of Ubuntu and free up your machine!
