Somebody ought to totally re-organize the number and structure of forums. It's a total mess.

e.g. You can't have both a 'hardware' thread and a version dependent thread.
The hardware issue needs to be organized under the pertinent distro.

Look like everbody has been allowed to open a sub-forum.

Third party projects that contribute to Ubuntu are welcome to request a Third Party Forum.

If I understand you correctly, you don't like that we have a Hardware forum in the Breezy Forum area?

Please be specific with your requests or complaints about the structure of the forums because simply calling it a mess and giving a vague reference to what you don't like doesn't provide enough information.

I think you overlooked I was specific with this: e.g. You can't have both a 'hardware' thread and a version dependent thread. The hardware issue needs to be organized under the pertinent distro.

Specifically said, I find there is too many sub forums, and you cannot identify the unique and correct place for you queries.

In order to find new discoveries you also have to trawl too many forums.

People will be tempted to post in several forums.

This in total creates a chaotic mess as specified.

so you mean there is a hardware section for each version (5.10, 5.04, 4.10)? if so, that should be okay as hardware problems will be unique to each version as hardware detection is developed with each version.
You might wanna come up with how your suggestion would look like to clearify things? something like:
*ubuntu 5.10
-desktop
--kubuntu
--xubuntu
-gaming
--kubuntu
--xubuntu
-64
--kubutu
--xubuntu
-ppc/mac
--kubuntu
--xubuntu
-hardware
--laptop
--network
--video and sound
blablablabla
??

Hmmm... Hardware for Breezy Badger is under the Breezy Badger area. Each release is going to have completely different set of issues that are for that release only, so I don't think moving Hardware would be a good idea.

The unique and correct place? If I have a problem with an application I'm trying to use or install, I post to the desktop area of either Ubuntu or Kubuntu - depending on what I'm using. If I have a problem while gaming - I look for the gaming areas. If I can't install Ubuntu / Kubuntu - I post to the install area. If I just don't know, I can post to the Other Application Support area. :-k

So far, only a handful of people have posted in multiple areas.

Discovering new things? I look in the Customization area. :-k

Most of our new users don't seem to have an issue finding where to post something.... so I'm not sure what you mean by chaotic mess - because so far, I'm not seeing any concrete examples of what you mean. This is why I asked you to be specific - because I'm not picturing exactly what you mean.
