Ubuntu on iMac G5

ok. maybe if i post here someone will respond. I tried the alternate and desktop version, and None worked. No matter what options i type it still stops at "Calling quiesce... Returning from prom_init."

Please help. Here's some specs: iMac G5 Rev. C (20" iSight) 2.1 ghz, 1 cpu, 1.5 gb ram, and 116 gb free space for ubuntu (232 gb in total)

Try ubuntu 8.04 live ppc cd and then upgrade from there, it is the only ppc that I have found to work every time.

Okay, so it gets past the prom_init part, but now it's stuck at a black screen?

you can hit tab at the first install screen to see options. Mym G5 is a powerpc so I used the nosplash-powerpc64 option and all went fine.
