I have a MacBook (NOT PRO) 5,1 and the mic is not detected. I really need this to work, but after the ordeal I went through to get sound working on this machine, I don't want to mess with the sound output settings at all. Only the sound input settings... What can I do to get the running? (Using Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty) Help appreciated,

Did you check the wiki https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook5-1/Jaunty#Sound (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook5-1/Jaunty#Sound)?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is the walkthrough that got my sound working. I went through it again and still, my mic does not work... I roughly know what the problem is:

In the walkthrough, it says to enable the left most record column by clicking that microphone icon with the red X over it. I do that and the X goes away, but if I re-open the volume controls, its still there. It won't go away... No idea why. Help VERY much appreciated,
