I bought a Trendnet TEG-PCITXR gigabit PCI card for my Ubuntu home server sometime last year. So far I've used this card with fresh installations of Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04 and 8.10 and 2 (two) different motherboards and I still get crashes. Ubuntu usually crashes when transferring files to/from the machine over Ethernet (copying files to/from SAMBA/CIFS shares or nightly backups over TCP/IP).

Is there some kind of setting or special configuration I must set up to get Ubuntu to work with a gigabit card properly?

TIA
