Is there a good accounts program for ubuntu, such as sage, which we use for the farm accounts. So far, I have been using Ubuntu for 3 or 4 months, this is the only thing I haven't found a replacement for.

Sage is a small-business accounting package. Their website lists lots of industry-specific versions that they can provide.

Have a look at the thread below. It's dated, but it has a lot of useful info and some links:

Have you looked at GnuCash? That seems to get the most mentions, but I doubt it's as fully featured as the Sage range seems to be. (Might not be enough for business accounting.)

A search on the forums http://www.google.co.za/search?hl=en&q=accounts+program+site%3Aubuntuforums.org reveals one or two other options. E.g. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1072967

Wouldn't be the first time someone from Sheffield has failed to understand a farmer from Somerset :D
