Hi Everybody

Ran Live CD 9.04 on my Toshiba Laptop and everything- video (runs native res 1280x800 widescreen), wifi, sound etc... works perfectomundo.

However, when I do a real install I get a black screen immediately after logging in.

Is this some Xorg problem? Does the Live CD use vesa and then the real install tries to do something "cleverer"? I have an ATI Radeon 200m vid sub sys in the laptop.

Anyway I'd appreciate some help please, as frankly I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Tried searching the forums, but no luck...

Thanks

Instead of installing or running the Live CD, go down to 'Check disk for errors' (or something similar.) Make sure your disk is ok.

Hi

Am reading Lew's link now, thanks.

Just out of curiosity what vid driver does the live cd use? It seems to work very well.

If that doesn't work, will try Freespire too- seems to have more drivers. Annoying though as I like the philosophy of Ubuntu.
