Hi,

Did you go through the ingame training? IIRC, All players must complete basic training before being able to play online.
Other than that I dont know.

I havn't tried the game, but you might try running the game through the terminal and see if there's any error output.

I don't know what you're talking about, but after a few minutes of thought - and rational consideration of the game in question NOT being a recruiting tool - I decided to go for broke and download the 750MB .zip off happypenguin.org's link.
I'll just have to see if the game supports my hardware -- it should, since ATI Radeon 9200 isn't all that different from what was listed.
My biggest obstacle is likely to be the wireless connection here which consistently shuts down.

make sure that your video card has 3d support enabled. for instance if you have an ati card make sure you have the fglrx driver installed and set up in your xorg.conf file

Are you sure its locking up hard? Can you still access the console from ctrl-alt-f1? or ctrl alt f2? does ctrl alt backspace work?
because i used to play this game and i never had this problem, could be a bad video card driver, hardware issue (acpi) or even power supply
post the output from dmesg and glxinfo

I used this walkthrough: Installing AA (http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/AmericasArmyInstall) and it worked perfectly. Maybe uninstall AA and try again?

How does one uninstall Americas Army?
If I remember correctly last time I ended up just doing rm -f on the directory but I'm sure this isn't the correct way.
Is it?

There's an uninstall script in its directory.
By the way, 2.5 is now outdated. We'll be waiting a few months for 2.6 to be ported to Linux :'(
