View Full Version : [ubuntu] black screen after login, folder problems in FAILSAFE

Using the new Ubuntu 9.04 on my desktop, dual booting with XP, bit of a noob with Ubuntu but after I partition everything correctly and install Ubuntu and reboot, I try to log in only to reach a black screen.

I then restarted and went into failsafe GNOME and got the message Nautilus could not create the following folders: /home/xxnamexx/Desktop, /home/charles/.nautilus

I really have no idea how to approach fixing this, any pointers would be much appreciated, thanks!

Weird. Maybe try creating them? Boot on safe mode, get a root terminal, run 'mkdir /home/xxnamexx/Desktop' and the other one i think 'touch /home/charles/.nautilus'. IDK why that error would show up.

Sorry to get back a little late :P

But if I recall, I re-installed it and had no issues with it!

Cheers mate.
