Does anyone know how to solve the no sound problem?
Is getting a 2nd sound card a possible solution?

Hmm no idea, maybe alsa is not working properly and i dont have q3 to test right now.
As the engine is open source now, there should be any better clients around, for example this one

yes, i have used it, and sound works, but PunkBuster, which is required for online play, doesn't work with opensource q3.

hey, i really appreciate the help. I have actually tried that tutorial too:P q3jack doesn't work well for me.. i get bad latency and noise distortion. sigh...is this a problem specific to ubuntu 5.10? I remember in 5.04 i had quake3 working. Is it hardware related?
