Hello,

Is recurring discussions only open to mods for thread creation? When I click New Thread I get an access denied.

Generally Recurring Discussions is a dumping grounds for Cafe threads that people get tired of. Threads are moved there, not made there.

Now, in my not so humble opinion (this is the internet, after all) you should be able to create a thread in RD if you know that the topic you want to bring up is a recurring discussion, but feel the need to post it anyways.

If you want to make a thread in recurring discussions - create it in the cafe and just report it (This button: http://ubuntuforums.org/images/buttons/report.gif)

That way as soon as a staff member sees the report they'll move it :)

Thanks for the replies. I have reported one of my own threads for relocation to recurring after it became clear that the topic I posted on was going to be more contentious than I realized at first.. I just didn't want to add more work to the mods's schedules ;)

I am trying to decide whether or not the cafe is really an appropriate place for me to post threads about issues that come down to us from upstream. I don't want to be the guy who gets associated with harping on issues that may only be related to Ubuntu by association - you know - things that Ubuntu devs cannot fix.

After getting to know the community a little I feel like many users would feel that too many serious threads showing up in the cafe would be something of a killjoy - and could become grounds for some argument.

Feedback on this?
