Ubuntu Forums Log In Is Extremely Irritating

I use forums a good bit such as http://fedoraforum.org/ and http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ and quite some others. I use Firefox to manage my passwords. Everything works find except when I come here. It's always a struggle. I end up not entering a correct password in five tries. I get pissed off and I don't post my questions. If Ubuntu doesn't want to integrate this forum appropriately with the Firefox password tool, at least stop with the five tries BS.

Today, I got a new user name and new password. The old one, acteae, has given me enough problems. I have wasted enough on this forum for today. I'm going to ask my question tomorrow, if I'm able to log in the first five tries. Otherwise, I'm looking into distros with forums that aren't so much hassle.

Try checking the "remember me" box.

No problem here doing what you want with firefox from the time I joined the forum 4 years ago, and the autologin to the forum has survived distro upgrades from that time, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you.

If you have cookies enabled for this site,and check 'remember me,' you should not have to log in at all.

We can understand you are frustrated, but since we use the same software as Fedora I suggest the problem is on your end.

1. Enable cookies.

2. Make sure your saved password is correct.

3. The "Remember me" function also helps.

Firefox also has a Add On called "Secure Login", which works with the "remember password" and auto logs you in when clicked.

There is no registered user called "acteae" - not that I can find in the forum search. Is 'acteae' a typo and, if so, are you sure you're typing in your password correctly?
