I request a feature where someone can do:

http://www.ubuntu.com/somevid.ogv

And it will create a video element (<video src="...">) similar to the IMG tag.

The video tag is supported in Firefox 3.5 which is available for Jaunty here (apt://firefox-3.5), and already preinstalled in Karmic.

Yeh......all sites related to opensource, ubuntu, linux need to using Ogm instead of flv for better support this new platform

HTML 5 video uses that encumbered MPEG-4-like codec, though.

No, it originally was going to use OGG Theora. Pressure from Apple and somewhat Google caused the spec maintainer to remove the code requirement, so not the <video> tag will use whatever your browser/system supports. Defeats the purpose, but oh well.

It use ogg theora codec and use containers like ogm(mostly), Avi, Mp4
