Mouse cursor problems

I am attempting to install a different mouse cursor in XFCE.

I have the intended cursor directory in /usr/share/icons

I can select it in XFCE settings manager/mouse/theme.

The new cursor works, but it reverts to the default cursor anytime I hover
it over a window decoration, system menu, thunar window or terminal...

anyone know how to keep the new cursor regardless of where it is actually hovering?

Yep reboot after you apply the mouse them, its the only thing that works for me atleast. If that doesnt work try applying another mouse theme and rebooting and see if it fixes the problem for that theme, if it still doesnt work then i dont know what the problem. I hope this helps.
