In your opinion is WoW worth the buy + fee? I currently own GW and I don't much care for it, to much of it seems to be about GvG or PvP and Idon't like either...and its horridly slow on linux (but a comp upgrade would fix that)?
If not what are some games that are worth buying? I currently have
Starwars knights of the old republic 1 and 2
Warcraft 3 and expac
Starcraft and broodwars
Neverwinter Nights platinum
Fear (need to upgrade system to play it ;) )
Half-Life 2 (that I always seem to have troubles playing, anyone got a better way than cedega?)
Guild Wars
Half-Life 1 +both expacs
Diablo 2
What else is worth the buy out there on the market now adays? Linux native prefurable but windowss will work (I bought cedega for a reason)

Neverwinter Nights platinum you can install natively.
For native games there's stuff like UT series the quake series, Postal 2, Creatures 3, Dominions series, Devil Whisky, Savage series, Majesty, Alapha Centauri and properly lot more which I can't remember at this moment.
For games on Cedega, I'll recommend(because I've them lol ;) ) Homeworld 2, Space colony, but you can check transgaming support list of games (4 stars or more)

WoW is great if you like MMORPGs.... if you don't, Neverwinter Nights is a great alternative.

I really enjoy WoW, I was lucky enough to get in some beta time and I'm still playing it. I don't what kind of gamer you are but personally this has been a game for me that I don't have to play 6hrs a day to "keep up" or "stay in touch". Sure things are updated and kept dynamic but I can go without playing for even a couple weeks and still have no problem re-immersing myself into the game. My wife has been playing dark age of camelot for several years and I think I may convincing her over to WoW
All that said I am still running WoW on my system at home designed more so for that purpose (gaming) and still running XP. I have no experience running it in Linux.

WoW and GW are 2 totally different MMOS. GW is more like PSO than anything else. WoW is all you MMO's like FF11, EQ, and DAoC combines with all the right features. It is fun. I played for a few months with no regrets. Only reason i stoped, was FF11 still had me :D
Ohh, and to point out, there are private servers to play free on. Most run the latest version of WoW, and they arent much different than the real servers. Though, you only have about 90% of the quests, most of the bugs are fixed though.

So WoW is something I should try? What about EVE? I just downloaded a free trial (is there one for WoW?).

Hmm. I do not agree. While playing PvP / GvG is fun, there is a HUGE world out there which needs exploring. GW just supports some very different modes of play, which you may try if you like. Nobody ever forces you, though. If you play a RPG character, you may just do the missioins and finish the last one at level 12 (which is very difficult but doable). Or you can take your time and do a lot of side quests. You can play all by yourself (and a bunch of stupid henchmen) or with other people (which is one of the points of MMOs I guess). My point is that there is a bigger variety in gameplay than you imply.
As for WoW: it is a bit easier to install in Linux and its requirements are lighter. I really wonder if the monthly fee would be worth it though. That's one of the reasons I chose GW: if I did not like it, I would not have to keep paying for it.

If you like RPGs, try Vampire:Bloodlines. It runs on the HL2 engine, and although it is horribly buggy, it is fun. Never got it to run on Linux though. A good Baldurs Gate style game is Planescape:Torment (1999 IIRC). It is the best CRPG I have ever played. Period. And there is a Linux installer at Loki games.

Uhm... sorry, but I don't understand basically anything. Have you ever thought about expressing yourself in plain english? =P
It's just that I really don't like language exclusive to a small group of people. Using abbreviations to this extent only makes it readable by so many people. I would like to encourage everyone to use words and abbreviations that anyone understands.

If you used your mind you probably could understand. I've never been heavily into rpg type games and I'm getting
"World of Warcraft and Guild Wars? are two very different Games, Guild wars is like Phantasy Star Online but World Of Warcraft is like final Fantasy 11, everquest and dark age of camalot combined."
Btw, if thats wrong, feel free to call me an idiot

Thanks for so kindly interpreting for all of us who are new to the games side of things thessem.
I have recently started playing Guild Wars, & am blown away by the speed, the graphics the diversity of game play, the size of the (soon to be expanded!!) world, & there's quite a story to take part in too!!
You buy the game & that includes your permanent subscription to the first world, which is great! Then as expansions come out you can buy into them if you please.
I have played Warcraft 3, & Diablo 2, briefly, in my opinion there is no comparison with Guild Wars. I have not experienced Word of Warcraft so I can't comment.
Guild Wars is addictive, you have been warned!

So, are you telling me that all you have to do with guildwars is pay a once only buy fee? no ongoing payments or anything? If that is the case, I may go out and buy it and see what its like.
(Whoever guesses what those random letters at the top are gets a dancing-banana or something)

translated perfect thessem!
And yes, Guild Wars is 100$ free to play, you buy the game and thats it, no ads or anything! They will come out with Expansions to the game, to cover server costs.

Handy, PM me with your characters name in GW and we'll get together sometime.
And yeah I think WoW is worth it. I come from the days of EQ and I loved it and it was all level grinding...with WoW you have other stuff to do besides just to keep grinding but not so much as in DAoC to make me not want to play
