I've got a Darter Ultra with Ubuntu jaunty 9.04, and the sound level of the system is quite low even though I've set all volume controls - Master, PCM, Front - to the maximum setting.
Is there a trick to fix this?

probably not. they're just pretty quiet speakers. (i've got a darter too)

If Master, PCM, and Front are all the way up, that provides the maximum volume.

try playing different file formats in different programs.
For me, some can sound reasonably loud and others are too low. I'm curious if any one else is experiencing this.

yeah miniyak i've found the same thing. totally depends what i'm listening to/watching. usually i have to watch media at max volume - streamed stuff almost always. some files though seem to do alright and i can have it just at 3/4 volume, but haven't noticed if there is a certain type of file that's best.
