I am thinking about trying Windows 7, setting up my system as duel booting system with Ubuntu. but before I do, I figured I might as well upgrade my ram first.

currently I have 1gb, I think that is two 512mb modules but frankly I don't remember for certain

1st question: I have 2 banks of 2 slots each. Must I fill a memory bank with 2 modules or can I fill just one slot in a bank? If so. are there any performance implications related to using full or half banks?

2nd question: Does anyone know if Windows 7 (32 bit version) will take advantage of the full 4gb if 4gb are installed?

3nd question: If I decide to upgrade to 4gb, does it make any difference whether I choose 2 banks of 2X1GB or 1 bank of 2X2GB

4th question: If I decide to go 3gb, could I keep my 2X512mb and add 2X1gb or 1X2gb in the other bank? will one perform better than the other?

5th question: any recommendations which memory brands/products I should buy or avoid

My local staples has a deal on
PNY 2GB PC5300 DDR2 Desktop Memory $34.99,,,
That looks attractive when combined with $25 off a $50 or more purchase coupon!

anyone know of other attractive deals?

Thanks in advance!
