Dungeon Lords Multiplayer (LAN)

I have been playing Dungeon Lords on Ububtu Hardy for a few days now via Wine. Everything works great so far, except that when I try to play 'Multiplayer' over a LAN, I get, "Error Initializing Network." I'm not sure if this is an Ubuntu problem or a Wine configuration problem. I looked for Internet Explorer in wine to see if it could connect to the network, but it's not there. This error occurs on both of my desktop comps (both running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy), the ones I want to network to play with each other. There are no other networking issues with either comp as they can share documents and both access a router for the internet. Are there any special configuration changes I need to make? Do I need to DL something for the Wine library? Any help would be appreciated.
